Akebono Kogyo is patens for rollers which prevent meanders.  The rollers are most suitable for transporting thin sheet materials such as papers, films, sheet metals, etc.  There are two kinds of rollers; 1) make a pull-force to the sides and 2) make a pull-forces to the center.  The first described roller prevent making creases and the later prevents meanders.

Rollers which prevents meanders

When a roll of metal sheets or papers are transferred by rollers, they normally shift to the side (meanders).  Our "Meanderless" rollers, which have US patens, keep the sheets straight.  It does not mean that our Meanderless rollers correct meandering.  However, our Meanderless rollers prevent the meanders from occurring.

Key Benefits

  1. Meanderless rollers can be used as a single or combination of several rollers.  (Pinch methods, bridle methods, or others)

  2. Meanderless rollers rotate at the axle of curved roller and has one or two straight lines at the circumference.  By changing the position of the straight line of the circumference, it changes the roller rotate force towards the peripherals or towards the center.  (Used for eliminating creases or making creases)

  3. Meanderless roller is made of rubber.  (It can be used not only as industrial rubber but also as special designed rubber.)

  4. Meanderless roller can be used as a driving roller or back tension roller.

1)  Convex Shape - Single Element: Even Type

Use differences of circumference of roll

Prevent meanders

Controls feeding volume (suitable for pinch roll)

Uses either a single or combination rollers

2) Convex Shape - Single Elements: Aggregated and Scattered type

Use difference of circumference and angle of axis of roll

Prevents meandering of thin fragile sheets such as papers and films along with preventing wrinkles from occurring

Makes tension of an accumulator even and prevent meandering

Uses either as a single or a combination of rollers

3) Concave Shape - Single Element: Even type

Use differences of circumference of roll

Suitable for eliminating wrinkles on thin fragile sheets such as papers and films

Use either as a single or a combination of rollers

4) Concave Shape - Single Element: Aggregated and Scattered Type

Use difference of circumference and angle of axis of roll

Suitable for eliminating wrinkles on thin fragile sheets such as papers and films

5) Convex Shape - Dual Elements: Even type

Use differences of circumference of roll

Pulls at straight line

Suitable for thick sheets

Suitable for correcting meandering

Samples of use of Meanderless Rollers

1)    Meander Correcting Equipment

This equipment rotates freely at the center of the holding column.  By using the differences of the circumference of the roller, rotate forces has a side force towards the center.  This force moves the entire rollers horizontally and corrects the meanders.  (this equipment corrects meanders roughly.  If precise corrections required, a computer-controlled meander correcting equipment is used.)

2)    Accumulator

Makes tension even and prevents meanders from occurring.

3)    Pinch Rollers

Two Meanderless rollers are used together.  The area where two rollers are attached together, is always a straight line.
